What we do:
Design high school level activities for teachers and students to learn the fundamentals of nanoscience through interactive lab protocols.
Help connect high school students with research labs that provide mentoring experience for high school students.
Protocols are designed to take advantage of what currently exists in science classrooms and supplement the student experience through guest lectures and on campus visits to Uconn chemistry department.
Topics include:
Synthesis of nanomaterials
Optical properties of gold nanoparticles
DNA as a material (DNA nanotechnology)
Determining size and charge of nanoparticles
DNA as a treatment: How DNA can be designed to reprogram cells
